Humor in the Time of COVID

This Mindful Monday...

I spent some time really trying to channel what is is that folks are needing right now. Seriousness? Humor? Strategies? Compassion? In talking to a few loved ones and friends about what they are needing - I heard ALL of these themes.

So...I decided to start with humor - see the photo for that. (Oh meditation humor! Gotta love it...or find it incredibly goofy...either way, I'm hoping there was at least a slight chuckle.)

And for seriousness - These times are unprecedented and they are HARD. So much unknown...and so much uncertainty - we're all trying to figure out what this pandemic will mean for our futures and the futures of our loved ones. This leads into some thoughts about compassionate and mindful strategies -

1) Allow yourself the gift of feeling whatever it is that you're feeling about all of the changes and unknown.

2) Name the emotions if you can - this helps us to disconnect us from being fused with the emotion.

3) Once you name one emotion...see if you can open up the space of awareness to notice if there are any other emotions underneath the fear - name that emotion.

4) Take one moment & breath at a time. How do we remember to do this? Check out our FB page where you can find a number of Sunday Stillness meditations - these (relatively) short meditations focus on a particular theme to bring you back to the moment with a mindful stance.

Among all of this uncertainty...there is one certainty I would stake my life on - YOU ARE DOING THE BEST YOU CAN IN EACH MOMENT! Be kind to yourself today. Be kind to others today (remotely or from 6 ft away, of course). Laugh today!

Wishing you all a very Mindful Monday!
